Day 19 - Middle Splits Challenge
Saturdays always start with me as a couch potato; so, I napped, had back & feet massages, and simply lounged all morning.
Eventually, I got up and began to warm up for my splits training.
The Training
Once I started the warm-up, I knew that today's session wasn't going to be the best.
I was aching everywhere; I couldn't push the thighs beyond the aches.
In the inspirational video that started it all, the guy mentioned taking a day of rest every 3 - 4 days and he felt that the rest helped him with his training.
So, I thought of skipping today to have a full day rest.
But I was stubborn and decided to keep going, even if I had to take it easy.
So, I completed my usual warm-ups, along with leg swinging and hamstring stretches.
The Experience
As mentioned above, it wasn't the best session. I was pushing down as I should, but I could feel there was no progress.
The 4th and 5th sets were tough, even with the music and eyes closed; my thighs and arms were visibly shaking as I held on for every second.
I was extremely glad to complete the session.
Informal Sessions
In fact, I felt terrible that there was no progress, I contemplated abandoning the whole goal.
I was aching, the goal deadline was almost here, and I didn't seem to be closer to the prize.
So, I spent the rest of the day watching inspirational videos of folks who have achieved physical feats I'm trying to achieve.
Apart from minor warm-ups, I didn't complete any stretches; I needed the muscles to rest for the rest of the day.
Will that help? We'll see tomorrow.
