Day 17 - Middle Splits Challenge
13 more days to go!
Completed a whole body stretch today after waking up; felt good as I got ready for the splits session.
The Training
While warming up for the splits session, I noticed that my lower body was sore.
It felt like the the butts, thighs, and upper legs have been through some stress.
Anyways, I completed my warm-ups as usual (usually takes about 10 - 15 mins)
I also included leg swinging as a warm-up.
The Experience
As I started the sets, I knew that today wasn't gonna be my best day; my thighs felt weak.
Since quitting wasn't an option, I decided to complete the session with about 80% of my usual intensity.
I didn't want to take any days off to rest and I certainly didn't want to hurt myself; the best I could do was being consistent in my trainings.
So, I completed each set as expected; between each set, I swung my legs as additional warm-ups.
As usual, had a 2-min rest before the 5th set.
Informal Sessions
I actually felt good about completing the session; one missed session is a step in abandoning the whole mission.
Throughout the day, I did active stretching, hamstring stretching, butterfly poses; even while driving, I took off my left shoe and
- completed a butterfly pose with the left leg (my ankle was on my right thigh); when that began to interfere with my driving,
- put the left foot on the car seat, stretching the hamstring; after a while, I switched and
- put the left leg on the dashboard (my default sitting style while driving for a few weeks now)
Even if I do not meet this goal in 30 days, I know my body is a lot limber than it used to be.
I haven't given up hope that I will get it done in 13 days; however, I KNOW that I will eventually get my middle splits......sooner than later.
